Characterizing satellite receivers made easy with next generation VNAs (Webinar | Online)

Satellite communication plays a key role in our modern linked world. The number of satellites and the required infra-structure is still growing, and correspondingly modules of the entire data transmission chain are further developed for optimized data transmission and highest data rates. The modules in question in this webinar are the satellite receivers (or receivers in general), were the combination of high-gain, frequency conversion with a non-accessible internal LO, and the numbers of test parameters make the characterization really challenging. This webinar describes features of the Rohde & Schwarz high-end Vector Network Analyzer ZNA, supporting a comprehensive and reliable characterization of such devices.

Attendees of the webinar will learn about: 

  • optimization aspects of  transmission chains in modern satllite designs
  • how measure and evaluate the performance of high-gain satellite receivers

Speakers

Yvonne Weitsch, Market Segment Manager Aerospace & Defense Rohde & Schwarz
Yvonne Weitsch received her Dipl.-Ing. degree from the University of Stuttgart in 2005 and another Dr.-Ing. degree from the Technical University of Munich in 2011, both in electrical engineering. In 2011, she joined the Antenna Department of Rohde & Schwarz in Munich. She worked on antenna development, antenna measurement techniques as well as near-field to far-field transformation techniques and echo suppression. In 2018 and 2019, she worked closely with the Technology Management team focusing on satellite communications. Since 2019, she has been responsible for satellite testing in the market segment team for aerospace and defense.

Dr. Albert Gleißner, Product Manager Network Analyzers Rohde & Schwarz
Dr. Albert Gleißner studied Physics at the Technical University in Munich and continued working in the area of fundamental research, finally completed with the acquisition of the doctor`s degree. With the first employment, he changed to the design of general test and measurement systems, with focus on marketing and commercial aspects. Employed at Rohde & Schwarz since 1997, he works as a product manager for vector network analyzers, with focus on the high-end series and application oriented activities.
